Professional Supervision

What is Supervision?

“Supervision is a safe and supportive space created by both supervisor and supervisee. It is an opportunity for the supervisee to meet with their supervisor to talk about anything that is on top for them. It is a space to reflect on practice, to enhance hauora, and to learn and develop both personally and professionally. As helping professionals we spend a lot of time caring for others therefore supervision is a time to care for yourself.”

Supervision Practice

Bonnie is a Registered Social Worker with the Social Workers Registration Board who has been providing Professional Supervision for the last three years. Currently she supervises Social Workers, Social Work Students and Health Professionals across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Passion/Interests:

Bicultural Practice. As a Māori wāhine Bonnie is passionate about bicultural practice and supporting Social Workers and other Health Professionals to develop in their competence to work biculturally.

Self-Care and Wellbeing plays a pivotal role in supervision and her approach is to support supervisees to lead a healthy work-life balance.

Supporting Social Work Students and New Graduates has been a large focus of Bonnie’s career so far and is an area that continues to be a passion of hers.

Business. Having started her own business from scratch Bonnie understands the hard mahi this entails. Therefore, she loves working with supervisees who are looking to venture out into the world of self-employment who need some extra support with this.

Personal Development. We only get one life so it is important that we are living it to the fullest. Supporting supervisees to set goals and to achieve these.

“Bonnie has been my supervisor for a year now. She is amazing at what she does. She is very prompt in her communication and never misses a beat when it comes to our supervision. She listens, gives very helpful advice, and is so supportive. I always look forward to our time and I feel so much better afterwards. Knowing you have someone to confine in and openly talk to especially in the mahi I do means everything. I couldn’t recommend anyone better.”

“I felt that the service was very professional and consistent. I felt heard and very supported during my sessions. It was great to have the options of face to face, phone or video chat. I felt connected and comfortable to talk about both personal and professional issues which meant I could leave each session alot lighter with a plan to resolve them. I am very grateful for the support and highly recommend the service to others.”
